YES...Invest in Milton

A broad-based group of Milton residents, including Republicans, Democrats and Independents, ran a spirited campaign in support of adopting the Community Preservation Act in Milton.  While nearly 6,500 voters supported our efforts on election day, it wasn't enough this time around. Thank you to everyone who supported the YES on 4 effort!

We are proud to have earned the support of Selectmen Tom Hurley & Denis Keohane, M. Joseph Manning & James A. Henderson from the Board of Assessors, former Selectmen Marvin Gordon, John Michael Shields, Kathy Fagan & Charlie McCarthy, town moderator Brian M. Walsh, former Town Administrators John Cronin & Kevin Mearn, and former Warrant Committee chairs Emily Innes, Glenn Pavlicek & Katie Conlon. Other endorsers include Honorable George N. Hurd, Jr., Virginia Wells, wife of the late police chief Richard G. Wells, Leroy Walker, Kristan Bagley Jones, Becky Padera, Ed Duffy, Alexander Whiteside, Joe Duffy, Barbara Brown, and Terry Driscoll. YES on 4 has also won the organizational endorsements of the Milton Board of Park Commissioners, Milton Democratic Committee, Milton Fuller Housing Corporation Board of Directors, Milton Historical Commission, Milton Interfaith Clergy Association, Friends of the Blue Hills, and Neponset River Watershed Association.

Milton has a long history of preserving our historic and natural resources. The Suffolk Resolves House, Turner’s Pond, Popes Pond, Atherton Street Fire Station, and Unquity House are all examples of our town taking action to maintain Milton's exceptional quality of life.

We are proud to be ranked as the second best small town in America to live by CNN/Money Magazine. But we must preserve our special nature and make wise investments for our future. It has been more than 40 years since we last purchased open space to improve our town. We have let historic buildings deteriorate due to lack of resources. And many young people and town employees can no longer afford to live in Milton.

We have numerous opportunities in coming years to continue to improve our town. Milton's parks and playgrounds need attention. Our athletic fields throughout town need capital improvements.  And we need to address our deteriorating historic fire stations. CPA can address these and other needs in Milton. Adoption of the Community Preservation Act will provide the resources to invest in Milton.
